for Emily Pedley-Laws
The inspiration for the piece came from Emily's name. I’ve used the musical letters EDA as a recurring
melodic idea and the meaning of her two surnames - a clearing in the wood (Pedley) and a small hill
(Laws) suggested the depiction of a pastoral landscape.
- The Bell Tower: full of joy and exuberance
- Skylarks above the Heath: arial acrobatics
- The Dark Pool: ominous
- A Kingfisher by the Brook: darting, sparkling colours
- Storm on the Horizon: distant and brooding ...then bells in the sunshine
