Part of On Track, UYMP's Education Volume for Key Stage 4.
Diversion is a miniature piece for five instruments that gradually builds an arch and returns to the initial point from where the music departed. In that sense, one can’t find a diversion of direction, as the overall effect is rather circular. But on the other hand, the music plays with the other meaning of the word, giving the musicians a series of rhythmic and melodic patterns that interact with each other and create a sense of “diversion” within the music itself.
