This work was first performed by the composer in York 2002. It starts with a ‘signal’ on high F that occurs on a few occasions throughout the work, often heralding a move in a new direction. Lyrical, longer lines are interspersed with more lively sections that sometimes play with timbral effects, or extended techniques. Microtones are used for expressive effect and are to be played as such.
