The magical harmony of Chopin’s Mazurkas flies by very quickly. I decided to slow down the harmony of part of the first of Four Mazurkas, Op. 6, and re-imagine it, while retaining some echoes of the original. It could be imagined as a dance filmed in slow motion. The piece is dedicated to the memory of Matthew McDonald, a talented young musician who had a particular affinity with Chopin’s music.
