This work for large wind ensemble was commissioned by the University of Stellenbosch Wind Orchestra in 1998. I conducted it in Stellenbosch and Cape Town in the November of that year. It is a straightforward, highly-coloured piece, beginning with a slow section. The main movement is rondo-like, with a couple of episodes and a still centre. The secular chorale of the introduction is recalled at the climax.
