[Strike Sketches]

Strike Sketches by Ed Hughes is due to be broadcast at 10:30pm on Saturday May 3rd on Hear and Now, BBC Radio 3's flagship contemporary music magazine. The programme features the New Music Players' concert at the Warehouse, London as part of the BMIC's Cutting Edge Series in December 2006, and will also feature an interview with the composer. Hear and Now will be broadcast on the internet live, and will also be available for seven days as part of Radio 3's Listen Again service.

Strike Sketches is a suite of music based on Ed Hughes' soundtrack to the classic Eisenstein film Strike. Ed's score for another Eisenstein film, Battleship Potemkin, is to be performed in Tel Aviv on Saturday May 17th by the Israel Contemporary Players, directed by Dan Yuhas. Both film soundtracks are available on the recently released Eisenstein boxset produced by Tartan DVD, which also contains a documentary on the recording of the soundtracks with the New Music Players, conducted by Patrick Bailey.
